The New"Digs"

Here are a few shots of the interior. Kirk is in all the proper places....in front of the sink and stove...getting familiar with the territory....after all he has to do all the cooking...then what about that bathroom!! Kirk couldn't squeeze in the hottub! Kirk felt the need to try out that bed and wouldn't you know that is Carol at the table waiting for Kirk to fix something to eat...her natural pose. And just in case the snoring gets too bad, there is the "guest room" with 2 bunks that one of them can sleep in.

Pick Up Day

Our adventure began with the pick up of our new trailer. We bought a 2009 Jayco Jayflight 28BHS trailer which is 30 feet long with queen bed in front and a double bed and single bunk in the rear. It also has a small slideout for the couch area. The dinette and the couch can convert to extra beds so we can handle a bunch of company! It has a nice kitchen area so Kirk can do all the cooking while I sit and watch and sip my wine or beer!

We spent 4 hours getting oriented to all the features and operations of the trailer as well as how to hitch and unhitch the monster! A normal orientation period is 2 hours but Kirk was full of questions, clarifications, what abouts.... (are we surprised!) and he literally drove the staff nuts! Then the moment came when Kirk had to drive it home. I called the Pope and asked for a special blessing, broke out my rosary beads and started sweating profusely! Because we spent so much time at the dealership, we had to drive home in rush hour traffic, adding to my anxiety. Before we attempted to back it into the driveway, we went to an empty parking lot for Kirk to practice. Oh Boy.... Ninety minutes later, and after simulating our street with buckets and stools, he only wiped out the neighbor's mailbox 8 times, knocked out our evergreen tree twice, hit the neighbor's car in their driveway a few times and took out the birdbath... he finally felt like he might be able to do the deed. So off we went. I already had used up all my spiritual offerings just getting home so I had to bank on living a good life to help us get it in the driveway. Kirk was stellar and I collapsed on the front lawn once the trailer was unhitched!

So Why the Campbell Traveling Show?

So you have to ask, why in the world did Kirk and Carol select such a name for their blog site! If any of you know Carol well enough you would know that she is a die hard Neil Diamond fan. In fact her children will tell you they grew up listening to countless hours of Neil Diamond. One of her favorite songs, and there are many many others... is "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show". Listen to it and you will get the drift! "....pack up the old ladies...everyone knows Brother loves....Hallelujah...." So Kirk and Carol decided that this odyssey needed a proper title. Since it is the Kirk and Carol show and it is all about being together and loving each other (corny huh!) and that we were saving ourselves from the day to day life of work.... such was born the moniker...."The Campbell"s Traveling Salvation Show" We asked the Veggie Tales gang to give you a little snippet of the song along with Neil!
