The Traveling Salvation Show took a break from trailering and headed to Phoenix and Tucson to see family and friends. The first stop was to Barbara and Ed's, Carol's sister's lovely home. While there we visited a really cool place. Believe it or not we went to and thoroughly enjoyed the Queen Creek Olive Mill, which is an olive farm. We sampled all kinds of yummy olives and took a tour on how virgin olive oil is made. Does not sound like much but it was very interesting and delicious! Another trip was to the Phoenix Botanical Gardens - I did not know there were so many varieties of desert plants and cacti. My sister and brother-in-law really spoiled us. It is going to be really tough to go back to a trailer after all the fine amenities we have had this past week.

A trip to Phoenix would not be complete without golf! Since the weather was unseasonably mild (mid 90's instead of low 100's) and remember all that dry heat! Yea... real dry....and still hot! But we managed to play 2 courses. One day was with a friend of Kirk's from his Michigan days - Rich on a tough course - Legend Trails. We are still tabulating strokes! The second course was Cave Creek, a municipal course. Scores were better......

In the middle of the Phoenix visit we drove to Tucson to see Kirk's brother, Virgil. Talk about the good life! When we arrived, he handed us a beer and we headed to the 90 degree heated pool. In the moring we played a three year old course, Saddlebrooke Ranch. When we finished it was back to Virg's for lunch and another few hours in the pool. He has a spectacular view of the Catalina mountains. We watched the sun rise over the mountains. Virg has landscaped the house with lots of fruit trees and plants - grapefruit, lemon, apricots, grapes, kumquats (did not know they really existed and whatever do you do with them?) and figs.
We are off to Flagstaff/Sedona AZ area for the next set of adventures. It was sad for me to leave my sister but they probably need the rest from feeding us and sight seeing with us.
